THE ACTION

Photography as a tool for critical thinking and combating stereotypes

The Truth Lens is an educational program that uses photography as a way for children to observe, question, and better understand the world around them. Through creative workshops, students are invited to explore how images shape the way we see ourselves and others, while opening a dialogue around stereotypes, equality, respect, and inclusion. The program was created as a space for expression, reflection, and critical thinking, bringing together education, art, and social awareness inside the school environment. It encourages children to look beyond first impressions and to use the camera not only as a tool for capturing reality, but also as a way of revealing new perspectives.

The action is implemented by the non-profit organization Women in Art (WINART) and the Department of Primary Education of the University of Crete, with the support of the Region of Crete, the Office for Gender Equality, and the Regional Committee for Gender Equality of Crete (P.EP.I.S.).
