The Thread

The Thread is a photographic project that captures the inspiring story of Despina, a woman who turned her small weaving business in a Greek village into a symbol of independence and resilience. Passed down from her mother since the mid-20th century, Despina’s craft represents more than just the creation of textiles—it embodies her determination to live a life true to herself, despite societal pressures and personal challenges.

Through this project, I aim to showcase how the loom became more than a tool for Despina—it became a milestone of her freedom, creativity, and fulfillment. Her story is one of perseverance, standing firm against societal norms and familial expectations, especially as she reclaimed her path after marriage.
